Award Honors Team for Significant Investments in Cycling
The League of American Bicyclists has recognized Traffic Engineers, Inc. (TEI) with a GOLD Bicycle Friendly Business (BFB)℠ award! TEI is one of six firms to achieve Bicycle Friendly Business℠ recognition in the Houston region, and the first in Texas to achieve GOLD level recognition. 
Traffic Engineers, Inc. (TEI) is an award-winning, multi-modal transportation planning and engineering design firm. As consultants, TEI’s professional project work makes bicycling better for countless people who walk and bike. TEI has designed grant-funded bikeways and sidewalks, designed bicycle-friendly traffic signals, advised on the design of Houston’s first cycle track, planned bicycle and pedestrian access to schools and other developments, conducted bicycle and pedestrian safety studies, led small-area Livable Centers studies, and is leading development of the City of Houston’s Bicycle Master Plan.
TEI’s single greatest investment was relocating our office in 2014. After officing in suburban, auto-oriented Sharpstown for more than 30 years, TEI invested in a new location 12 miles away in Downtown Houston. TEI’s new office is easily accessible by Metro, B-cycle, bike, and foot, and fewer than half of our employees drive alone to work. Our new urban setting brings more parks, restaurants, art, entertainment, bayou greenway trails, downtown cycle track, and bike-friendly Metro transit service.
When our employees bike, great things happen! Our personal experiences as people who bike are making us healthier, happier, and helping us understand our city at the block by block level. At the same time, it has helped us secure roles leading public projects that are improving bicycle and pedestrian facilities for millions of people across the Houston region. We’re better connected to our community, and enjoy a fun and healthy work culture!
