Lijie works as an engineer with TEI, working on various projects that include bike infrastructure, bus stop design, and traffic impact analysis.
A Chinese native, Lijie came to Houston to pursue a degree in Transportation Planning and Management from Texas Southern University (TSU). His thesis topic while at TSU introduced the impact of bike infrastructure including bike lanes, stations, and overall ridership. He enjoyed his research experience which combined transportation studies and computer programming, inspiring him to learn more about computer science. He is currently studying at Prairie View A&M University and is looking to combine his knowledge in the active transit and computer science fields to bring innovative ideas to the transportation field.
During his time in Houston, Lijie has taken various modes of active transportation in and around the city including bus, rail, walking, and even taking a scooter when he can. He enjoys having the options available to him and would like to see more trails available for pedestrians and cyclists to get around the city safely.
In his spare time, Lijie enjoys painting, traveling, playing volleyball, photography, and cooking.
