Sarah Wetmore

Sarah’s fascination for transportation engineering started in her freshman year in college, when an engineer came to speak to her class about the hidden layers of designing parking lots. Since then, her interest has grown to include the creative inner workings that make up safe and accessible multimodal paths. Since her time working in transportation, Sarah has lived her work, trading in her car for a bike and taking public transportation around the city. She values the freedom it gives her and the various options she can travel.

Sarah has over a decade of engineering experience, almost seven of those years with TEI, and is currently team lead of the engineering department. Her scope of work includes cultivating client relationships, managing and executing detailed design projects, and mentorship. She enjoys her work as an engineer because it uncovers the why behind a transportation plan.  Particularly with TEI and an emphasis on more locally sourced multimodal projects, she sees how quickly her work in improving street design impacts surrounding communities in Houston.

Sarah is active in The Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE) and is a LEED Green Associate and Envision certified. She is licensed as a Civil Engineer in both Texas and Colorado.

Sarah graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) in New York with a BS in Civil Engineering and an ME in Transportation Engineering. She was a member of the Women’s Basketball team while at RPI, captaining the team for two years, and was recently conducted into the RPI Athletic Hall of Fame. Her passion for sports continues still, where she has played professional flag football and recently has taken up golf.
