TEI Planning + Design, along with Nancy R. Edmonson Transportation Consulting, developed the Mobility Action Plan (MAP) for the Energy Corridor District. The MAP identifies actionable transportation projects and programs that will guide capital improvement planning and implementation for the Energy Corridor District over the next 10 years. The vision of the MAP aims to attract and retain people and businesses in the Energy Corridor through thoughtful public investments that enhance a diverse, safe, and interconnected transportation system on which people can choose to walk, bike, or take transit conveniently and comfortably. Supporting the vision, the TEI team developed four distinct groups of recommendations:
Priority Projects are corridor recommendations that support economic development, place making, and safety in the District through intersection redesigns serving all modes of travel, new bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure, and key trail connections.
Future Projects are more long-term bike and neighborhood connectivity projects supporting economic development and long-term resiliency and safety.
Transit Projects include both short and long term solutions that would make existing trips easier but also attract future riders as the District continues to grow.
The recommendations included new local transit services, Regional Express, commuter bus enhancements, and Addicks Park & Ride first/last mile improvements.
Programs and Policy recommendations for the District provide opportunities for programmatic investments that enhance mobility including the projects recommended.
The MAP provides a framework and plan for the District to continue supporting quality infrastructure improvements supporting multi-modal mobility options that are convenient, safe, and equitable for people in the District and beyond.
