TEI prepared roadway schematic, traffic signal, curb ramp, and pavement marking designs for the reconstruction of Cullen Boulevard by Harris County. The design included shared bicycle and pedestrian trails based on the earlier Pre-Engineering Report led by TEI. These new trails provide a key connection to the existing MacGregor and Wheeler trail network, and also tie into the Polk and Cullen bikeways.
This complex interagency project required close coordination with many stakeholders. TEI served as the key liaison between METRO, the University, Harris County, and the City of Houston
TEI also completed design of seven traffic signals which complied with all City of Houston standards, including ADA curb ramps, shared crosspath markings, pedestrian signals, and bicycle signals with bike detection, to accommodate the trails along both sides of Cullen Boulevard.
TEI provided construction phase services, including design of temporary traffic signal designs to maintain existing traffic control.
